The study program Teacher-Certificate (DZ) develops a supplementary didactical education of 24 ECTS credits. The primary target audience are engineers who intend to teach later at universities of applied sciences or in-house training of Companies.
The issue of a teaching certificate is an appropriate university master's degree (or a completed diploma's degree) and possibly the completion of additional requirements of scientific. These additional requirements have to be met up to maximum 12 credits before starting the DZ study program.
The students can pursue the DZ program parallel to the bachelor's or master's degree, during the doctoral study, or while working. The DZ program takes normally one year. Detailed information about admission requirements and procedures can be found under Registrar’s Office.
Four credit points can be acquired in each of the two lectures of Education Sciences "Human Learning" and "The design of school environments." Four of these credits can be taken in account for GESS electives within your BSc-/MSc study. The two courses provide basic knowledge of educational psychology about learning and teaching.
Parallel to this or afterwards you enroll for "Fachdidaktik I" and "Fachdidaktik II". Start can be in fall or spring semesters. These courses teach how to implement learning tools in MAVT subjects, give lots of practical tips and provide pilot lessons "protected in the framework". And the students deal with specific problems of the polytechnic education, eg the design of meaningful tests.
The
conclusion of the training is the teaching practice (four credits), typically
at a University of Applied Sciences, intensively supported by a qualified internship
teacher. First 10 lessons the DZ students observe specific aspects of teaching.
Then they teach 20 lessons themselves, with the last two lessons as audit
lectures evaluated.
Regulations and documents on the teaching certificate is available on the website for educational training, information on enrollment (including dates) on the websites of the Rectorate.
