The Teacher-Certificate (DZ) program develops a supplementary didactical education of 24 ECTS credits. The primary target audience is engineers who plan to teach at universities of applied sciences or in trainings of their companies. The DZ is taught in German and requires sufficient knowledge of the language.

The students can pursue the DZ program parallel to the master's degree, during the doctoral study, or while working. The DZ program takes at least 3 semesters. Detailed information about admission requirements and procedures can be found at the Rectorate.

Four credit points must be acquired in each of the two lectures of Educational Science "Human Learning" and "Designing Learning Environments for School". These lectures can be taken during the bachelor studies, before registration for the DZ, and they can be accounted for GESS electives in parallel. The two courses provide basic knowledge of educational psychology.

Parallel to Educational Science or afterwards are the courses "Fachdidaktik I" and "Fachdidaktik II" (4 credit points each). They teach engineering didactics and present practical tips. E.g., they show how to implement learning tools in MAVT subjects, provide pilot lessons in the protected environment of a small class, deal with specific problems of engineering education and cover the design of useful exams.

In a mentored work (two credit points) the students design a semester plan.

The conclusion of the training is the teaching internship (six credits), typically at a university of applied sciences, intensively coached by a qualified internship lecturer. In 10 lessons, the DZ students observe specific aspects of the teaching of their coach. And they teach 20 lessons themselves, the last two serving as the final examination of the DZ studies.

Regulations and documents on the teaching certificate is available on the website for educational training, information on enrollment (including dates) on the websites of the Rectorate.
