Research Plan

 

In collaboration with their supervisors, doctoral candidates draw up a research plan, stating both the goals and type of work as well as the doctoral candidates’ responsibilities. The research is generally planned to cover a period of not more than three years following admission to doctoral studies. The research plan is submitted to the supervisor, and, if possible, to a co-supervisor.

The chairman of the doctoral committee presents the research plan, which is signed by the supervisor and the doctoral candidate, to the doctoral committee. The research plan is usually submitted within the first year after registration.

A deadline extension can be requested, but this requires the approval of the doctoral committee. For a deadline extension you have to submit the corresponding form (German) to the D-MAVT Student Administration.

 

The research plan must include the following points:

• research tasks,
• framework in terms of content and timetable,
• margin of freedom for research work,
• other duties.

The research plan has to be handed in to the MAVT Student Administration with the approval form (both with original signature) for the approval of the doctoral committee. The form will be sent to the Doctoral Administration who then advances the doctoral student to full candidacy.
