In this way he exposes the weak points in this therapy commonly used to treat arteriosclerosis and smoothes the way for the development of optimized stents.

Professor Hans G. Hornung was awarded an honorary doctorate for his outstanding contribution to research in the area of the gas dynamics of high-speed flow. Supersonic flows occur in particular when spacecraft take off and land. From 1987 until 2003 Hans Hornung was the head of the Graduate Aeronautical Laboratories at Caltech in Pasadena and is a visiting professor in D-MAVT.
