After studying mathematics at the University of Tübingen and Oregon State University and receiving a master’s degree in science, Siegfried Gerlach worked in software development at Computer Gesellschaft Konstanz, (CGK) a subsidiary of Siemens. In 1998 he moved to Siemens Switzerland to lead the software house within this business unit and in 1999 became Manager of the Transportation Systems unit. From 2004 until 2005 Mr. Gerlach was Divisional Manager for the Mass Transit business segment, focusing in particular on the “Combino” trolley car project at Siemens AG in Erlangen (Germany).
On 1st October 2005 Siegfried Gerlach became Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Siemens Switzerland. In 2008 he was appointed as CEO and Board Member.
