Dr. Sandro Matter completed an apprenticeship as a biology lab assistant at Ciba Geigy (today Novartis), while at the same time graduating from a Swiss federal high school. At the age of 29, Sandro Matter received a degree in organic chemistry from ETH Zurich followed by a PhD in material science.
His professional carrier began at Synthes-Stratec, where from 1997 – 2002 he was responsible for the production and development of biomaterials..He co-founded Kuros Therapeutics in Zurich. In 2002 Dr. Matter became head of the Biologics and Research Division at the Straumann Institute and since 2005 he has been Manager of the Products Division in Basel. He is also a Member of the Excecutive Management Board of the Straumann Institute.
