The main objective of the industrial internship is to expose master students to the industrial work environment.

Open positions

The industrial internship can be undertaken in a Swiss or a foreign company. Under special circumstances, a research institute outside of the ETH Domain can also be chosen. This requires special authorization by the Director of Studies. Tutors often support their students in finding a suitable internship position. Further useful information can be found on our homepage and at and Jobzippers.

For students enrolled in one of the following programs the industrial internship is obligatory (8 ECTS):

- MSc ETH in Mechanical Engineering

- MSc ETH in Process Engineering

- MSc ETH in Robotics, Systems and Control

- MSc ETH in Micro and Nanosystems

- MSc ETH in Nuclear Engineering

Detailed requirements concerning content, duration, certifications, etc. can be found in the regulations and study guides of the programs.

The residence permit for foreign students completing their internship abroad MUST NOT expire during the internship period.

ETH doesn't take responsibility for workshop trainings carried out outside ETH. Please arrange insurance ("Accident" and / or "Private liability") with the involved company as part of their employee package policy (Switzerland), or arrange your own insurance coverage.
