Awards for Institute of Virtual Manufacturing
Double honor for the Institute of Virtual Manufacturing of Professor Pavel Hora. Doctoral student Maximilian Neuhauser has won the MATERIALICA Award 2019 for students. Neuhauser and Felix Linnenschmidt also received Venture Kick funding for their ETH spin-off OptoGuard.
OptoGuard uses a technology developed at the Institute of Virtual Manufacturing of the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering to detect defects on the surface of extruded aluminum profiles. Neuhauser and Linnenschmidt, research associate at the institute, rely on artificial intelligence to automate the inspection of materials and guarantee the most error-free quality control possible.
Maximilian Neuhauser also received the external pageMATERIALICA Award 2019call_made for students for his work on this intelligent control procedure at the trade fair in Munich in November.
