ABB Research Award 2017

Mark Mueller receives the ABB Research Award 2017 for his doctoral thesis on drones. Mueller is researching failure systems that make autonomous flying drones safer in the event of technical problems.

Mueller's doctoral thesis "Increased Autonomy for Quadrocopter Systems: Trajectory Generation, Fail-Safe Strategies, and State Estimation" is the result of his research in the group of Professor Raffaello D'Andrea at the Institute for Dynamic Systems and Control at the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering. At the ETH Day on 18 November 2017, he was awarded the ABB Research Award 2017, endowed with CHF 10,000.

Since August 2016, Mark Mueller has been Assistant Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, USA, at the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
